Stuck between an IGG gift card and a Player ID top-up? Here is which one buys packs, lands faster, and can still be rescued after a mistake.

Gift Card Code or Direct Diamonds: The Actual Split

I keep watching people treat these like the same purchase. They are not.

An IGG gift card is a code. You redeem it on the IGG account that owns the castle, then spend Diamonds, the official payment currency in Lords Mobile. Diamonds buy in-game packs, gems packages, and resources in the Mall.

A direct top-up skips the code. You enter the numeric IGG ID and the Kingdom. Diamonds go to that player. Find the ID on the device that actually plays: gear icon, lower right, Account tab. Do not guess it from last month's war screenshot.

If I already have that IGG ID on screen, I do not buy a gift card. I use a Player ID top-up for Lords Mobile Diamonds so the balance lands on the castle I can see, not on a string I have to babysit in Notes.

Card, then redeem, then spend. Or ID, then Diamonds, then the Mall.

What a Card Can Buy Versus What Diamonds Buy

Can an IGG gift card buy packs? Not as a pack. Nobody is handing you a Blue $19.99 Mall pack inside a 16-digit string. The card is credit on an IGG account. Packs come after, paid in Diamonds.

The Mall spends Diamonds first. Short on balance? The game applies what you have, then shoves you into the normal payment flow for the rest. A leftover gift-card dribble will not finish a Purple pack by itself. I treat gift cards as a clumsy wallet.

Passes stay expensive on purpose. Monthly and Weekly Passes are excluded from Diamond Shop sales events. Coupons do not touch them. Stall at checkout and a coupon lock sits for 10 minutes, then drops. Or you cancel the order and free it yourself.

Guild-feeding packs sit by price tier. The tier decides the key dump.

Pack tier Price Guild gift keys
White / Common Mall Pack $0.99 200 keys
Green / Uncommon Mall Pack $4.99 500 keys
Blue / Rare Mall Pack $19.99 2,000 keys
Purple / Epic Mall Pack $49.99 5,000 keys
Gold / Champion / Legendary Mall Pack $99.99 10,000 keys

If the spend is a guild dump, you need a Mall pack, not a lonely code sitting in chat. Diamonds buy those packs. The card does not.

Recurring stuff is a separate menu. A gift card is not a subscription either.

Offer Cadence Price
Monthly subscription (Mirage) Monthly $4.99
Turf Club Monthly $9.99
Familiar Support Monthly $9.99
7-Day Dash Bundle Weekly $1.99
7-Day Familiar Bundle Weekly $2.99

These sit outside Diamond Shop sales. Do not buy a fat gift card because you think a coupon will shave Turf Club. It will not.

One official oddity: save the official Diamond Shop shortcut to the desktop or home screen and IGG pays 200 Linked Gems. Cute. Irrelevant to the card-versus-direct fight.

How Fast Each One Lands in Your Account

Gift cards stall on human steps. You pay. You wait for a code. You copy it. You open redeem on the correct IGG login. You hope nobody typed it from the photo you dropped in guild chat. Then you still walk into the Mall and spend.

Direct is shorter. IGG ID, Kingdom, pay. Diamonds show on that player. No second website. No "did I redeem this on my mini?"

I will not invent a minute count for either path. Stores change. Queues change. Anyone printing a cute arrival clock is guessing. Every extra handoff is a place to stall. Codes add a handoff. Direct removes it.

If you are buying for yourself and the IGG ID is already on the Account tab, a direct Lords Mobile diamond top-up is the shorter chain. Confirm the ID. Pay. Go back to the Mall.

A live checkout also shows the total before you pay. I am not listing payment brands. They shift by country. Open the product page and read what is actually offered.

Wrong Player ID, Unused Codes, and Redeemed Cards

Mistakes are not equal. Some you can still fix.

Unused gift code. Salvageable. You still hold the string. You can send it to the right player, or redeem it yourself on the right IGG account. Guard it like cash. A screenshot in a 40-person guild chat is not guarding it.

Already-redeemed card. Dead. Someone typed it. The value sits on their IGG account now. There is no second bite.

Redeemed on the wrong IGG login. Also ugly. Two accounts. A parent who redeemed on their own IGG instead of the kid's. The credit is sitting on the login that ate the code. You are now in IGG-account recovery territory, not "just send it again" territory.

Wrong Player ID on a direct top-up. Worst case. Diamonds land on a stranger's castle. That player did not ask. They will spend them. I triple-check the Account tab before I type anything. I do not copy an ID from last war. I open Settings. I read the number. I read it again.

So which mistake can you still rescue?

  • Unused code: yes, if you still control it.
  • Redeemed code: no.
  • Wrong IGG login on redeem: maybe, if you still own that login.
  • Wrong Player ID: usually no.

Parents: stand next to the device. Open Settings together. Then do direct. Do not text a gift code to a kid who will paste it into the first search result that says free redeem.

Guildmates: if they are not in voice with you, a code they redeem themselves is safer than you typing their ID from memory. If they can sit in voice and read the IGG ID off the Account tab, I still prefer direct. Less leaking.

F2P, Mid-Spend, and Heavy: Different Buys

A $0.99 White pack and a Gold dump are not the same errand.

F2P, or someone buying once. If this is a $0.99 White pack or a $1.99 7-Day Dash, tap the in-game buy and be done. A gift card leftover is a nuisance.

Off-app checkout for a dollar is a lot of ceremony. If you must buy outside the game, keep it tiny, confirm the IGG ID, go direct. Do not stockpile a card "for later." Later is how codes get lost.

Mid-spend. You are looking at Green $4.99 and Blue $19.99 packs, maybe Familiar Support at $9.99. Buy Diamonds direct. You will hit the Mall more than once. Diamonds spend first on those packs. Guild keys at 500 and 2,000 actually show up in the gift pile. Your mailbox holds 300 gifts and they die in 24 hours, so do not drop a Blue pack at 2 a.m. if nobody is online to tap them. VIP 12 unlocks one-tap open-all. Below that, people click. They will complain in chat if you dump and vanish.

Heavy. Purple $49.99 and Gold $99.99. 5,000 and 10,000 keys. That is a mailbox event, not a quiet purchase. I would never put that much on a gift code. One leaked image and it is gone. Confirm the IGG ID on the live Account tab, then buy Lords Mobile Diamonds with that ID in front of you. Warn the guild before the Gold pack so they clear space. The 300-gift cap is real. The 24-hour expiry is real.

My own rule: under a couple of dollars, in-game. Anything I would be angry to lose, direct Diamonds, ID checked twice. Gift cards only when the other person must redeem, and I cannot see their Account tab.

The Questions a Legit Store Is Allowed to Ask

A real top-up wants the IGG ID and the Kingdom. Sometimes a lord name, so you can confirm the castle before you pay. That is it.

A scam wants the password. The email login. The SMS code IGG just texted you. A screen share "so they can deliver faster." A photo of the unused gift card plus the PIN, sent to a stranger who will redeem it and disappear.

Nobody legitimate needs you to log out so they can log in. Nobody legitimate needs the parental store password. Nobody legitimate needs you to redeem the card on a site that is not IGG and not the checkout you already paid.

If the form asks for a Player ID, that is normal. If a person in DMs asks for the account, that is the theft.

Reputable checkouts show the total before you pay. If the number only appears after you "verify" by sending a code, walk away.

FAQ

Where do I find my IGG ID for a direct top-up?

Open Lords Mobile. Tap the gear in the bottom-right corner. Open the Account tab. The numeric IGG ID is on that screen. Copy it from there, not from an old rank shot.

What happens if I do not have enough Diamonds for a pack?

The Mall spends your Diamonds first. If the balance is short, the game sends you to the standard payment flow to cover the gap. A gift card you have not redeemed yet does not count as Diamonds.

Can I use Diamond Shop coupons on Monthly or Weekly Passes?

No. Those passes are excluded from Diamond Shop sales events. Coupons apply to eligible Diamond packages only. Turf Club and Familiar Support will not get cheaper because you bought a card.

Do guild gifts from purchased packs expire?

Yes. Gifts expire 24 hours after they are generated. Your mailbox also caps at 300 unopened gifts. Buy the pack when people are awake, or you donated keys to the void.

Can an IGG gift card buy Mall packs by itself?

No. The card is a code you redeem on an IGG account. Mall packs, gems packages, and resources are bought with Diamonds after that. If you want a Blue or Purple pack, you still walk into the Mall.

What if I type the wrong Player ID?

The Diamonds go to that ID. Unused gift codes are the purchase you can still redirect. A spent ID top-up is not a code sitting in your notes. Check Settings twice. If you are buying for someone else, make them read the number live.

My Pick If You Are About to Pay

I pick direct Diamonds for almost every cash spend that is meant for a specific castle.

Gift cards win only in a narrow case: you cannot see the Account tab, and the other person must redeem the code themselves, and you trust them not to paste it into a phishing box. That is a parent mailing a birthday code. It is not a war-time Purple pack.

No redeem step is why direct is faster. Packs still cost Diamonds, so access is the Mall path. An unused code is still the only mistake you can usually redirect. Wrong ID on a direct send is the one I refuse to make, which is why I open Settings like a ritual.

If the IGG ID is in front of you, skip the card. Pay for Diamonds. Hit the Mall. Tell the guild before the keys land.
